How Find High Priority Articles To Get Brand Mentions In

Hey everyone, Chris Long with Nectiv here. For today’s GEO tip, I’m going to show you how you can find high-priority articles that might influence AI search where your brand is not mentioned.

So, we know that branded web mentions are one of the biggest things that impact AI search visibility. HFS did a study and found that branded web mentions had the strongest correlations to inclusion in AI search. There are a lot of reasons we think that likely ties to inclusion in AI search.

So, how do you find the brand mentions—or the articles—you need your brand to get listed in, but you’re not?

Actually, it’s a very simple process you can do to at least get started. So, here I’m just going to go to “best e-signature software” on Google. Let’s say this was a query we want to show up for. And let’s say that we’re SignNow, and we want to find: “Hey, where are there articles that don’t mention us?”

So what I could do is just search: best e signature software -signnow. That minus sign removes our brand from the results.

And now, I can start seeing articles that list the best e-signature software — but don’t include SignNow.

Here I can see GetAccept, PandaDoc… no SignNow on this one. I go back to the search results, look a little bit more… looks like there’s a HubSpot Ecosystem article, an article on a brand called Clust.

Now we can start to see: hey, where are people writing about this content but not mentioning our brand? These might make higher-priority outreach opportunities — especially if we think they’re referenced in AI search.

This would be a good exercise to not only find brand mention opportunities, but to find brand mention opportunities in articles that are going to matter for AI visibility.
